HUSKY COMPANY
Our Board
The Board and its committees monitor Canadian and U.S. regulatory developments affecting corporate governance, accountability and transparency of public corporation disclosure to ensure compliance with the law and in the interest of shareholders.
The Board of Directors adopted a Board Diversity Policy on February 10, 2015. In accordance with the Governance Committee mandate and the Board Diversity Policy, the Governance Committee is responsible for identifying individuals qualified to become Board members and recommending to the Board proposed nominees for election or appointment. The Governance Committee seeks new nominees who have a sufficient range of skills, expertise, experience and independence to ensure our Board can carry out its mandate and function effectively, while considering the composition of the current Board.
The Board of Directors regularly evaluates its own effectiveness, as well as that of its committees and members. As part of this process, the Chair of the Governance Committee meets periodically with each Director. To assist the Chair’s review, each Director completes an anonymous effectiveness questionnaire as well as periodic self and peer evaluations.

ABOUT ME
Operations at Cenovus
On January 1, 2021 Cenovus Energy acquired Husky Energy. The combined company is the third largest Canadian oil and natural gas producer, the second largest Canadian-based refiner and upgrader, and unites high-quality and low-cost oil sands and heavy oil assets with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure
-Conventional
Cenovus's conventional oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids business is one of our production areas. Our conventional assets include production and operations in the Deep Basin, a liquids-rich natural gas fairway located along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains in northwestern Alberta and northeastern British Columbia. Cenovus also has an investment in the Marten Hills area of Alberta through the Cenovus Marten Hills Partnership. In addition, we have light crude oil, natural gas liquids and natural gas production in the Rainbow Lake region of northwestern Alberta.
We take a disciplined, moderate pace in developing our conventional business, pursuing opportunities with high-return potential while focusing on maintaining safe and reliable operations.

- Heavy oil productionLloydminster thermal
The majority of our thermal heavy oil assets are located in Saskatchewan. We use repeatable, modular construction templates to build our long-life Lloydminster thermal plants, which drive capital efficiency and consistent project execution. Eleven projects are now producing in the region - with production ranging from 3,000 to 15,500 barrels per day (bbls/d) - including the Spruce Lake Central thermal project (10,000 bbls/d), which achieved first oil in September 2020. On April 11, 2021, the Lloydminster Thermal team achieved a significant milestone - a single-day production record of 103,865 bbls/d.
Our producing assets are supported by a network of facilities and pipelines in the region that transport oil from field locations to the Lloydminster upgrader, asphalt refinery and other assets that are part of our business. The high degree of integration between field and processing sites allows us to optimize returns on our production by upgrading it to higher value products such as low-sulphur synthetic crude oil and ultra-low sulphur diesel. The synthetic crude is used to produce gasoline and diesel fuels in our refineries in Canada and the U.S.
- Cold and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) production
We use cold heavy oil production with sand (CHOPS) and enhanced oil recovery production technologies in our heavy oil operations.
CHOPS involves the continuous production of sand in combination with pumps or other artificial lift systems to recover the heavy oil from the reservoir. We also have a full-field polymer injection project at our Aberfeldy property in Saskatchewan as well as three carbon dioxide (CO2) injection EOR pilot projects and a CO2capture and liquefaction plant at our Lloydminster ethanol facility. The liquefied CO2 is used in the ongoing EOR pilot program.

LET’S CONNECT
Our operations involve activities across the full value chain to develop, transport, produce and market crude oil and natural gas in Canada and internationally. Our physically integrated upstream and downstream operations help us mitigate the impact of volatility in light-heavy crude oil differentials and contributes to our bottom line by capturing value from oil and gas production through to the sale of finished products like transportation fuels.
